A modern and spacious new neighborhood spot, a Mano (which means “by hand”) is now serving up tasty and affordable pizza and pasta dishes + cocktails in Hayes Valley. I stopped in early on a Monday and already it was full and happening! The Italian menu is very much California-inspired and changes daily depending on what’s fresh and available each season. The pastas are the highlight of the menu (I especially loved the agnolotti) and their pizzas are stellar, too. Perfect thin, chewy and yet crisp crust…the margherita was exceptional. You can watch as they hand make their pasta and pizza dough from the glass kitchen window.  And every evening a new special is added to the menu, so keep an eye out for this dish.

a Mano is currently serving dinner by walk-in only. Lunch and brunch to come soon. This is also a great spot for dinner if you’re heading to any of the nearby performance centers.
