Spotted / Oakville, CA / Turnbull Wine Cellars
I had my first taste of Turnbull wines dining at the historic Alfred’s Steakhouse and not too long after, I decided to pay the Napa winery a visit. Their cabernet sauvignon and rosé wines were truly memorable. And fortunately I arrived just in time to enjoy the final bits of the latter from the last season. The new rosés will soon debut in time for summer, but I did select a couple Fortunas which I’m saving for perfect occasions.
The estate itself is utterly charming with its barn-like structures, vintage cars and tractors, vegetable gardens and surprisingly an impressive book and photography collection. It’s a place you’ll want to wander or settle into for awhile.
Turnbull is a small, family-owned business that’s been producing wines for 35 years. All grapes are grown on their four vineyards. They are renowned for producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Tastings are open to the public in the Gallery Room or you can book a one-hour private experience. They are open daily from 10:00 – 5:00 except on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
