An authentic little German restaurant in the heart of Hayes Valley, Suppenküche serves simple, flavorful and traditional Bavarian food and beer for dinner and brunch. Think schnitzels, bratwurst and other meat and comfort dishes in the evening, and sausages, eggs, potatoes and emperor pancakes on the weekend. The latter are now my latest craving, served with brandied raisins and an apple and plum compote. And pretzels with cheese, potato pancakes and fresh bread rolls anytime of the day! There is plenty of beer from different regions of Germany and you can have yours served in a big boot.
