I first discovered Mel Rice’s ceramic pieces at The Mill where I often perused the home goods wall more so than the bread and coffee selections. Her name would appear on little cards by bunches of jars and cups I kept admiring. Earlier this year Mel secured a closet sized space on Valencia Street to set up one of SF’s smallest and most darling shops. Each weekend she opens the wooden doors revealing new hand-thrown pieces created in her Outer Sunset studio. Here you’ll find her expanded collection, including bowls, vases, jewelry and occasionally the work of other makers—most recently wall triangles by local woodworker Aleksandra Zee. Be sure to follow her Instagram for the latest shop updates + opening hours.
