Spotted / South San Francisco / Studio Choo
I’ve long been an admirer of floral artists Studio Choo—as far back as 2010 when they teamed up with Magpie & Rye to open one of the most darling shops on Divisadero once known as The Prairie Collective. The tiny space was full of their arrangements + a collection of jewelry and home decor items. Owners, Jill Rizzo and Alethea Harampolis, quickly outgrew the space and in 2013 moved their floral business into their current studio in South San Francisco. I have since stopped in to take an occasional floral workshop; the most recent one featured here in this post. Using locally sourced flowers and plants and mixing them with unusual and foraged materials, they create a style that is wild, whimsy, rustic, earthy and unlike any other—which is why they are one of the top floral designers in demand for weddings and events. And if you can pick up your order, I highly recommend you do so you can get a peek into their gorgeous space. Jill and Alethea are also authors and share their design secrets in two books: The Flower Recipe and The Wreath Recipe.
