Spotted SF / Dogpatch + Bayview / Good Eggs
There is no shortage of great restaurants, bakeries, markets, gourmet shops and food artisans here in San Francisco. Our weather and close proximity to so many farms provides access to fresh ingredients year-round. You can spend any weekday or weekend eating and shopping your way through different parts of town. There are plenty of options—and it can be quite a task and trek getting from one place to the next.
Enter Good Eggs, an online grocery system that delivers fresh, locally grown, organic and sustainable produce + prepared foods straight from the farm or source to your front door. They offer a wide selection of seasonal fruits, veggies, meats and fish, dairy products, baked goods, pantry items and even fresh flowers, too. No need to venture out to your local farmers market, bakeries and specialty shops. No traffic or dealing with crowds along the way. No CSA boxes of mixed stuff you may not even eat. Just peruse the great variety on the Good Eggs site, choose the items you want, and have it all delivered to you in under two days at a time-window you choose. After you’ve received your order, you’ll also get a personal email from their customer care team to check on the delivery and quality of your food. How wonderful is that?
I had the opportunity to visit Good Eggs in the Dogpatch area of the city. They have since moved their main operations to Bayview. What a fun, diverse, dynamic and extremely passionate bunch, they are! And well fed, too. They don’t just preach about fresh food; they practice it by gathering as a group to enjoy a fresh, locally-sourced, prepared-in-their-kitchen lunch each day.
Recently I browsed their site to put in my first order and was overwhelmed by the selections they carry. There were so many items from my favorite SF bake shops and food artisans on there, including breads from Josey Baker and Marla Bakery, pies from Three Babes, jams from INNA and Emmy’s, and my favorite apple cider caramels from Little Apple Granola. Many others have been added since. I’m definitely going to continue using the Good Eggs service. Everything is delicious and delivery is free to $7.99. That’s way cheaper than zipping around town by car or Uber. And time saving, too.
Right now it happens to be BERRY WEEK at Good Eggs. From June 7-14, 2015, you get a free pint of organic strawberries with your order. Mine is going in as we speak!
