Spotted / Brooklyn, NY / Alameda
Stumbled upon this cozy little bistro with a beautiful wraparound bar while strolling through the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn. The name Alameda beckoned me, as I wondered if there was any relation to the city near my beloved SF. (I have yet to find out.) But a midday snack and some cocktails were in order and this turned out to be the perfect spot to settle into. I couldn’t help but admire all the rich and handsome details throughout the space. And ironically as I was reading the latest Anthology magazine, one of the designers and his amazing home was featured in that issue. Evan Haslegrave and his brother Oliver are the founders of hOmE design studio and the masters behind many of NYC and Brooklyn’s finest bars and restaurants.

Hi Leslie – I love your photography and the way you capture spaces, both as gorgeous design in its own right but also as a pointer to some of the best spots to visit. I’m compiling a list for my next visit stateside!
My dad had a boat called Alameda and I remember he took the name from a quote in ‘Ulysses’ by James Joyce so maybe that’s the reference here as well?…
Thanks for your kind note! Please reach out if you need any more recommendations – especially in SF. There is so much I haven’t yet captured.
And thanks for also pointing out that reference. You might be right!!
