Spotted / Cow Hollow / Wrecking Ball Coffee
I recently attended a communal Sunday Supper event at Marla Bakery and happened to be poking around and snapping photos in the kitchen. There was a gentleman in there who I thought was prepping all the delicious meals that night, but just before dessert arrived this same guy came out to introduce himself and announced that his coffee and tea would be served. Turns out he was Nick Cho, one of the founders of local Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters.
Shortly after that event, Nick and his partner Trish Rothgeb, opened the doors to their beautiful new coffee bar on Union Street in the Cow Hollow neighborhood. Trish travels extensively and serves as the green coffee buyer and roastmaster while Nick is the master brewer, barista trainer and retail specialist. Not only do I enjoy their coffee blends (and those yummy Marla Bakery cookies and scones), I love the open layout and bench seating in their space as it invites friendly interaction and dialogue—no cafe tables or laptops here. Definitely visit and make this your go-to coffee spot if you’re in the area. And if you’re digging the wallpaper as much as I and many others do, be sure to snap a photo of yourself in front of it and post it to Instagram with the hashtag #pineappleselfie.
