Spotted SF / Mission / Samovar Tea Bar
I’ve now found my tea spot in the city and it is the new Samovar Tea Bar in the Mission. Simply fresh, modern, white, concrete and ceramics heaven. That’s the first thing you’ll notice when you stop in. In fact the design of the space was actually inspired by the cups they serve their tea in. The owner first partnered with Oakland ceramists, Atelier Dion, to custom design the exquisite (but hefty) mugs for this location and the space began to build from there.
As it is a tea bar, this spot offers only a small menu of tea blends that can be ordered to go or enjoyed onsite. I’ve stopped by twice now and have ordered a couple matcha drinks and their house made chai. All were terrific but the latter is particularly my favorite, as they use real spices and blend all the ingredients together in big copper pots. It has the same richness and spiciness as the chai I enjoyed in India. There’s even a vegan version, too. With so many coffee options in the Mission, this is certainly a terrific alternative and a great addition to the neighborhood.
