Spotted SF / Dogpatch / Workshop Residence
A spot definitely worth visiting when in the Dogpatch is The Workshop Residence. With its massive wooden doors boldly marked “WORK” and “SHOP”, you can’t miss it. This open studio and retail space features unique pieces created by a rotating roster of visiting artists and designers, some taking residency in the space. I love visiting to see the new collections and watching these artisans in action. When I stopped in last week, the current collection included:
- Intricate felt work and graphic linens designed by Jennifer Morla
- Unique “fungi” furniture by SF artist, Phil Ross
- Gorgeous Japanese-style wooden cheeseboards by Oakland builder, Paul Discoe
- Ceramic cups by Atelier Dion in Oakland
- Kimonos, scarves, and aprons by mother & daughter team, Tsuyo Onodera and Maki Aizawa of Sonoma
- Ceramic cup and saucer sets + sculptures by Antwerp artist, Dirk Van Saene
