Spotted SF / SOMA / Bluxome Street Winery

A big thanks to the Bluxome team for introducing me to their fabulous winery. It’s definitely a hidden gem and I’m so glad to finally have discovered it! This working winery brings California winemaking back to San Francisco where it originally started (not in Sonoma or Napa like most of us thought.) In fact the SOMA region was home to over a hundred wineries and cellars. Most were destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and those remaining were shut down by prohibition.

Today it’s a perfect spot to try some excellent wines—most notably their Pinot Noirs. I was especially loving their crisp Sauvignon Blanc—so perfect for these warm days as of late. On certain Fridays, a select food truck or other specialist stops in to serve up some tasty dishes in the evenings. The last Saturday of the month is reserved for The Meet Market—a small gathering of local food artisans, farmers, and craft makers. And this is where I spent the afternoon a few days ago. Nibbling and shopping while drinking wine…fantastic!
