Spotted / Brooklyn / Four & Twenty Blackbirds

First stop in Brooklyn: Four & Twenty Blackbirds pie shop. This was definitely one of my must-try spots and it happened to be down the corner from the workshop I was attending that day. To kick off my morning, I had their excellent coffee and paired it with a delicious apricot ginger scone. Later in the afternoon I stopped in again for a slice of their infamous salted caramel apple pie. Really good, too. This spot was also featured in the book Edible Selby, which is tied to one of my favorite pictorial websites.

The name of the shop comes from an old English children’s nursery rhyme “Sing a Song of Sixpence” where four and twenty blackbirds were baked into a pie.
