Spotted SF / North Beach / Little Vine
Inspired by the quaint little shops inhabiting every corner throughout Europe, this gem on Grant focuses on local and artisan products, including cheeses, meats, wines from small production & family-run wineries, and other great pantry finds, like jams and pickles from Emmy’s in SF and my latest favorite cooking and cocktail mixer, Morris Kitchen syrups from Brooklyn. They also serve a daily sandwich and Bicycle Coffee to-go. A perfect spot to pick up the essentials for a picnic in nearby Washington Square Park.

I met Jay and Melissa ( owners) during just a short time living in North Beach: I was just 2 blocks UP the hill. On my returns over the last 7 months I am always greeted by Jay in a recognizable way. he gets in some outstanding wine tasting vintners, and has even had a beer tasting! it is pretty hard not to buy something here on any visit. i love that they are not pretentious, always helpful, and suggest what you want without it being the most expensive. prices are clearly marked on the clever ” cork” system, and an entire section is for $20 and under. Awesome sandwiches, cheeses, meat: unbelievable what is in this small space. Sorry. i know I sound like a relative or something. no: this is just a great place!
Karen – You are sooo right about how they help you choose some really great things without them being the most expensive! They were both so welcoming when I stopped in for my visit. Can’t wait to head back and pick up some items for a picnic in the park. Especially now that it’s getting sunny in SF! Thanks for checking out my blog and leaving your comment. It just reconfirms how great this shop is!!
